The VT52 was a CRT-based computer terminal produced by Digital Equipment Corporation introduced in September 1975.[1] VT52 provided a screen of 24 rows and 80 columns of text and supported all 95 ASCII characters as well as 32 graphics characters, bi-directional scrolling, and an expanded control character system.

Atari ST implementation

The Atari ST family of computers' TOS operating system included support for the VT52 terminal. Various escape codes were available for manipulating text output: moving the cursor, clearing the screen, or changing foreground or background colors.
