As ftp administrator for Light Speed Data, a full service internet provider and a bbs doorgame distribution site, I am happy to announce the newest service for doorgame programmers and bbs sysops: The Light Speed FTP-List mail service. This is a Listserv function that operates very much like a fidonet echo: posts to the list are immediately emailed to all subscribers. New game announcements, upgrade and patch announcements, help with set-up and configuration and more will be the focus of the list. There will be NO posts dealing with cheats, hints and such. This list is for programmers and sysops, and any person wishing help with setting up, configuring and running bbs doors. This is an open invitation to YOU to participate. If you have internet email access, you can join the list. It is being offered at no cost or obligation to you, and joining can't be any easier. Simply send an email message to majordomo@ldl.net with SUBSCRIBE LSFTP-LIST as the only line in the body of the message. No subject is necessary. Once received you will be a subscriber to the list and will automatically receive all posts to the list. I hope to see you on the Light Speed FTP-List soon! Keep up the good work! It sounds like you might be getting disappointed over the number of responses you get to questions, etc., but I don't think I'm unusual. I read every single word of every single issue of that magazine, and so do a lot of my callers. Like a lot of SysOps, there's never enough time to do all the things I'd like to get done, and some things, by necessity, just never DO get done, but I certainly wouldn't characterize "lack of response" with "apathy" or "disinterest", because I truly believe there are lots of other SysOps out there who are in the same boat I'm in. Door World is a class act. A quality magazine. It will continue to be successful just because of that. And I will continue to read every single word of every single issue because it's such an interesting and relative publication. There is nothing else like it out there anywhere that reflects the online BBS world so accurately. It's pure educational enjoyment at it's finest. My regards to Dave, and my thanks to both of you for all your hard work! Cheers.... Mike Fergione a.k.a. Bandit The Hole In The Wall BBS þ
