MSI has recently hired and assigned a new 3rd party developer liason to work with us door authors. His name is Chris Regan. Unfortunately his background is as a sysop and he is not a programmer or has ever developed a product himself. Something to keep in mind if you talk with him. I am working closely with MSI on behalf on DAMA member authors to develop an SDK for us door authors so we can develop and field door applications for the new WC5 Windows based client/server BBS due out in December or January. The SDK at this time is shaping up to be based on "plug in" OCX tool components which can be used on any of the following windows programming packages: a. Delphi32 (due out in December) b. Visual Basic 4.0 c. Visual C++ 4.0 The bad news is that the SDK will not be published or released until AFTER WC5 is published. I have submitted a written proposal to Jim Harrer at MSI to augement and improve support to us door authors. I'll let you know in a future message what the outcome is of this proposal submission is. 2. Programming door appplications for the Internet is looking more and more likely as well as desirable. I have entered into negotiations with a major windows Web server producer who is VERY interested in having us develop door type applications for their windows based web server. As of now we are discussing: a. Developing a programming "plug in" OCX based toolkit to help DAMA authors make the transition from the BBS environment to the Internet. This tool kit will work on the same compilers listed above. b. Release of a FREE windows web server to DAMA authors who develop products for that firm so that they can bench test their "door" products. c. Resolving technical web based road blocks which might prevent us from making server "doors". In the next week or so I will know more on the above and will post another update to let you know more about this new and exciting opportunity...
