Install the IGM. Edit it over to the Old #rdparty.dat and rename it. A lot of the older IGM's look for the 9 Igm's. I installed most of them like that which had problems. In fact, it was one of the cleanest running doors on the system. > I had NO trouble with LORD either until this version. > Now it tells me I need > to delete an IGM. Thought this version released this > constraint. Oh well. Actually that one is easily explained...some of the IGMs are programmed to look for the number of IGMs already installed...then refuse if there are too many...what I usually do there is rename 3rdparty.dat 3rdparty.da1, make a new 3rdparty.dat, install, edit, cut&paste, change the name back...thats all you need to do in that case Subj : Ny2008 for Wildcat ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ I am having trouble install ny2008 for Wildcat. I keep having trouble setting up the doorfile(door.sys). One person will play, and when the next person comes into the door, he will have the same name as the first player. How do i fix this problem? >>I haven't tried this game, so I'm gonna be kinda general with this reply. If *any* door is multi-line multi-node, each node must be configured with a path to that doors dropfile. It would mean calling up the game with a different configuratio . Most all ML/MN doorgames have the ability to create a configuration for each node so as to not have dropfiles bump heads as you've described above. Our BBS has the ability to create three seperate dropfiles with the same name. If your door only points to one of them.. Well.. you have a problem don't you.. Subj : Re: Ny2008 for Wildcat ÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄÄ The easiest way would be to delete the door.sys file at the end of the batch file you use to call the door. One other possibility....are you running multi-node and pointing the config files to look for the drop file from the same directory for all nodes?? I had this problem when I first started, only running single node, but I went into a game local while someone was online. All of a sudden this person was changed to me when they returned from an IGM. JUst make sure that you are using a different directory for each node (including a local one) and make multi configs to point to each node/directory for the drop files. Oh, I've seen that bug happen too. You kind of get stuck in the maintenance, huh? I think, though, that it was fixed in version 0.13b. In earlier versions it happened quite often. On the other hand, I found that if I pack the PLAYER base, the problem goes away for a while... so my guess is that it's linked to a non-existant player. I'll see if it keeps working and post if it seems to be a solution. I really hope Jakob fixes it because it's a real pain. Actually, Ruth Argust came out with a neat work around fix that I have been studying, and it looks pretty neat so far. 1. Make a backup copy of wanted.dat called wanted.bak 2. create a dummy wanted.dat with only 1 wanted player, a dummy player works ok. Call it wanted.dum 3. Do this during maint. copy /y wanted.dat wanted.bak copy /y wanted.dum wanted.dat usurper /hmaint or /fmaint copy /y wanted.bak wanted.dat 4. It seems that when the wanted.dat exceeds a certain size, the lockups occur. I haven't started doing this yet, because my wanted.dat file is not very big at this time. I'm going to wait for the next lockup to check it out. Here is the reply from a forwarded msg to his BBS..... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FROM Steve Hansen UltraSoft Support: Hi Glen.. I got your message in something of a round-about way, through one of our Beta Testers, (Thanks Tony..) since I don't receive this particular conference. But UABG (BackGammon) has no known problems of this sort. It is heavily registered, has won some best software honors from groups like ZiffNet etc, and is by far the top played game of all time at the UltraSoft Support BBS. Usually each UABG player runs 15-25 games at a time here.. So I can't imagine what is going on there.. You say it happens on ALL your games? This kind of makes me wonder if you might have a corrupted .EXE file.. The only way UABG should disallow removal of a piece, is if the entire piece count (including those removed) is not equal to 15, or if the game detects that not all pieces are in the inner table. That would give you an illegal move error. Something very strange seems to be going on there, and I can't say what it is. I think I would try accessing the archive again and re-installing.. To be sure you have a good one, you might try obtaining it from either the UltraSoft BBS at (808)833-1525, or from one of our official Distribution Centers, listed in your SYSOP.DOC file.. > Your game would be great if it was real time multi-node, > multi-player. Also, the chat is a little odd. How do you get the old > messages to disappear, just write new ones? It is multi-node and multi-player of course.. It's just not cross-node play, between active nodes. We really haven't seen much interest there. The notes to other players are saved, because often a player plays a game but perhaps does not have time to answer immediately, yet would still like to. So messages are saved until they are either responded to or deleted by the receiver.. Makes it pretty useless. A fix was promised long ago... BTW, Wraith will run fine here under OS/2 Warp Connect without the -nofossil switch, but with the -nofossil it crashes the system. Noticed you've been recommending that switch under OS/2... That was fixed on the upgrade from v1.03 to v1.40. You probably lost the upgrade in the shuffle. You probably installed an old version, found the bug, and never upgraded; hence, you have not found the fix. There is plenty of registered users running on DV, OS/2, and Windows to comfirm that. That means that ALL players will be wiped and everyone has to start all over again. Of course, if you have run the newest patch, thats not a bad idea anyway. Let EVERYONE have to earn their money to buy stuff instead of using the deposit/withdrawal bug. :-) Of course, there might be a way around the reset option. One of the local boards I play on all the sudden had 1 more kingdom than it did the day before with the sysops player as the king. Before you ask, no I won't tell you the sysop or the BBS because I'm not a name dropper. Some of the other people who play there might see this and let you know though, since most of them are as upset as I am about trying to play against someone with access to the editor who doesn't hesitate to use it. :( >>>I wanted to do the same thing a while back and found that the only way to do this is to reset the game totally (reconfigure and everything).
