So far i havent even been able to find a copy of pascal or turbo pascal for sale so i don't know about those. I got Turbo C/C++ 3.0 for DOS through mail order for $66 just a few months ago. I just recently acquired a copy of Turbo Pascal 7.0 with all original everything still in the box for only $39.00. I was thrilled. I find Turbo Pascal 7.0 to be very good for door games. With the advent of many kits like DDPlus and JPDoor and others, you can just work on the code and forget about the com routines. I also do a great deal of programming in QBasic but for doors you need something that handles more com ports and non- standard IRQ's and such. Many very popular doors are written using Turbo Pascal 7.0 and DDPlus, and that's the combo I'm using to create my latest game, cRaZed! BTW, cRaZed! due for release everywhere SOON! I will announce when beta testing is complete, not until. I'm running on RA 2.02. I also had trouble when installing it but if you look at the batch files included in the zip you will find that there is some similarity to them, all you have to do is rename one of the batch files and it should work fine!!! (At least thats the rules here) So the changes you want are being put into the next version, but is taking time because of school.. It's a great game, and all my users seem to love it.. It would depend, obviously, on which language you are using. I might suggest that you ask this question in the appropriate Programming Language echo (i.e., PASCAL, C_ECHO, CPLUSPLUS, etc.) where it could be answered better. If you want an answer to this question in the Pascal language, netmail me. I use BP 7.0 and I always set my file mode to 66 (ie FileMode := 66) at the beginning of all of my programs. It's really hard to say what you should do unless I know what language you use. Now that the DOS Rise To Power Multi-node version is finally finished and in beta test, I am currently learning how to use the Delphi programming package. It is an excellent package! Wish I had had this available a few years ago. It's almost CASE like and allows for extremely rapid windows application development in a fraction of the time it takes for normal TP. Those who are already proficient with TP will LOVE this program. In addition I have been learning the ins and out of the Internet and researching game writing possibilities for that medium. In conjunction with that I have established the Door Authors Marketing Assoc (DAMA) FTP support site at: ftp://picard.cswnet.com/public/dama It's taken awhile to upload most of the DAMA Support BBS files into that site, but it's almost done. Lastly I am attempting to work closely with MSI (WildCat BBS) to cut through the current log jam so DAMA authors can get the required SDK we need to program native windows doors for the upcoming release of WC5. As of now they do not plan to release any SDK's until about December or so. I am trying to get them to release this SDK in an OCX component tools format which would be portable between Delphi32, Visual C++ (Vers 4.0) and Visual Basic (Vers 4.0). Too early to tell yet if my lobbying will be effective or not, but they are listening. There new 3rd party development guru is Chris Regan and he seems to want to be helpful but is not a programmer himself, which I feel is a handicap when dealing with developers as you can imagine.
