Due to the failure of our retail vending efforts at ONE BBSCON we will no longer be doing direct to user product vending in the future. From this point forward DAMA will concentrate on promoting the Door Industry as a whole and lobbying BBS and Terminal producing companies to provide better support for door products. Since we are no longer vending software directly, the key method debate, which divided the door writing community prior to ONE BBSCON, is now both a mute point and a dead issue. Within 12-24 months a whole new generation of complex BBS platforms and terminals will be in use. Now more than ever a professional Door Authors association is urgently needed to represent our interest to these producers and, just as importantly, to obtain recognition of our major contribution to the on-line industry, which has often been lacking. It was for these important reasons that DAMA was founded earlier this year. If you are serious about door programming and are considering trying to make this a full time occupation and business, than DAMA is for you. There are no dues, and those authors who join will receive the following: 1. Your own personal file distribution area on the DAMA Support BBS with an appropriate security level which will allow you to upload directly to it. FIDO FReq support capability will also come with this. 2. Your own local support echo on the DAMA Support BBS, if you desire it, and a security level which will allow you to moderate it. 3. Access to all FIDO general door echo's and programming echo's through the QWK download mailer on the BBS. 4. Your own file distribution area on the DAMA Support Web/FTP Site when it opens sometime this fall. 5. A place in the DAMA File catalog which will be uploaded to MSI & PC Board support BBS's, among others, on a monthly basis. 6. To be included in DAMA hosted events and seminars at future BBS Conventions, such as ONE BBSCON, should you attend. The DAMA Support BBS has been setup to: 1. Allow maximum visibility of your product(s) and to provide a single nationally recognized distribution site for users to obtain shareware versions of DAMA member products. 2. Provide a product support system for authors who lack one. 3. Provide access to FIDO door and Programming related echo's for those who don't already have access to them. 4. Provide FIDO FReq capability to those who lack it. 5. It has NOT been setup to replace your normal registration methods. What do we want from you? Just include in your door product documentation that you are a member of the Door Authors Marketing Association, list the DAMA Support BBS as one of your main distribution sites, and keep your file area current on the support BBS. That's all there is to it!
