A BBS dealing with legal and informational issues concerning the family.  

        The BBS is operated by a California  lawyer (Deputy
Public Defender) and is open at no cost, although there is a 45
minute daily time limit.  The BBS has a large legal file base
dealing primarily custody related issues. The other file areas 
and conference areas, dealing with community resources and 
other issues, are being  developed.
      A research department is now available.  This department
will permit callers to research issues concerning California child 
custody and family/juvenile  law.
     The Family Preservation Society is sponsoring the BBS. 
The Society is a California non-profit, secular corporation whose 
directors are lawyers and other professionals.
     The stated purpose of the Family Preservation Society is to
protect, support and strengthen the American family unit. 
The Family Preservation Society is pledged to undertaking
programs of education, non-partisan advocacy, assistance and
support which are designed to preserve, strengthen and protect
the intact nuclear and extended American family unit.
     The system is single node at this time with a Viva 14.4K
modem and running on Wildcat 4.10.  It is operating 24 hours a
day.  The settings should be 8,N,1.
