Dungeon Master has a number of unique features that set it apart from previous roleplaying BBS door games:
- Much greater use of ANSI graphics, including 3-D display of environments as the player explores
- A construction set system enables users to build their own game modules that plug into Dungeon Master game environment.
- Extensive use of ANSI music and sound effects
Unlike many BBS door games, Dungeon Master allows for multiple players to play together in real-time.
Dungeon Master was first released in 1997 by John Dailey of John Dailey Software.
